Psychotherapy

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a general term referring to therapeutic interaction or treatment between a trained professional and a client. The problems addressed are psychological in nature and of no specific kind or degree, but rather depend on the specialty of the practitioner.

Psychotherapy aims to increase the individual’s sense of his/her own well-being. Psychotherapists employ a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behavior change that are designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient, or to improve group relationships for example in a family.

A person centred approach is between client and therapist who work together in a safe and confidential environment. The aim is to enable the client to understand and help resolve their problems.

Any of the following problems can be explored in a safe and confidential way:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety, Phobias
  • Relationship problems

  • Low self esteem
  • Grief
  • Careers related problems
  • Young adults
