Orthotics are shoe insoles custom fitted to help position the foot into an ideal posture and support it. This should ensure that pressure and strain is reduced when we walk or run, improving balance and promoting foot function. This in turn helps knee, hip and lower back problems.
What Happens?
We provide specialist foot orthotics which are heat moulded to suit each individual’s foot and fit into a wide variety of shoes. An Assessment is carried out by our Practitioner and will involve an examination of foot posture in both standing and walking positions. The running posture will be considered if required. With this information orthotics can be prescribed and recommendations made to improve foot health and lower limb performance.
Who will benefit?
A biomechanical foot assessment and orthotic prescriptions can be of help to anybody with foot, ankle or knee pain. Equally, those who suffer from hip and back trouble may also benefit. Orthotic use can be needed sometimes just for a short period to help settle pain and discomfort while healing takes place. However, they may be needed as part of a more long-term management plan in some conditions. Orthotics inserts can be of benefit at any time in our lives. The orthotics can be moved from shoe to shoe, so you do not need to buy separate pairs for all your shoes.
