Liza-Marie Pastor

Hello, my name is Liza.  When I was young, around 7 years old, my mum used to call me whenever there are neighbours who has fishbone stuck in their throat and asked me to massage the area until the pain disappears.  I was so interested and very passionate watching my grandfather does his holistic therapy too.  When I went to school, I diverted to something in-demand that time and graduated in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Computer Management which led me to working as a Systems Analyst for over 11 years.  Before coming here to the UK, I know I can be diverse and able to do various jobs and fortunately I was able to explore other field of work that delivers a compassionate and person centred care. My passion to help individual in their needs in terms of their health and well-being keep coming back, believing that this is one of the mission I need to share and  I am very happy to be of service and help anyone who would benefit from the skills that I acquired from completing a course in Swedish Massage and during COVID I made used of my time doing CPD courses on International Massage, Reflexolgy and Hypnotherapy.  I added additional training on Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy at QLS Level 5 which I believe helps on  keeping someone living a healthier and happier life.

What clinical methods are used to remove ear wax?

Irrigation

One of the most frequent ways to remove wax in is by ear irrigation, or syringing as it is commonly known. This procedure cannot be carried out if the person has had any ear surgery, recent infections or a perforation of the ear drum. It is also not advisable to carry out the procedure if the patient has any dizziness problems or very troublesome tinnitus.

During this procedure, the person sits in a chair and the ear is rinsed with warm water from an electronic irrigator. The wax and water is collected in a cup-shaped receiver which the patient holds under their ear. In the past clinicians used a large metal syringe; however the new electronic irrigators, which have controlled pressures, are gentler and safer. Ear syringing does make some noise but this is not excessive or uncomfortable. Most people who have irrigation find it to be a fairly pleasant procedure.

What is microsuction?

Microsuction is the process of removing wax from your ears by using a small suction tube and probe to gently remove any excess wax in the ear.
