Natalie Lake

My name is Natalie and I became a Foot Health Professional in 2016, qualifying from the SMAE Institute becoming a member of the College of Foot Health Professionals & the BAFHP.

My background career is in care, specializing in Alzheimer’s & Dementia.

Having worked both within the community and clinical settings, it seemed a logical and almost seamless progression, choosing to train in feet; a career which would enable me to further my enjoyment and interest in providing a service that can care and support people from all walks in life.

What is a Foot Health Professional?

Until the 1990’s we were all called Chiropodists no matter where we trained. When the Podiatry Degree was brought in, newly qualified people became Podiatrists and Chiropodists could take an additional qualification to bring them to the same level. The old Chiropody training continued but as the graduates could no longer be called Chiropodists, the new Foot Health Professional (FHP) term was born.

A Podiatristcan treat all aspects of the foot and lower limb including surgery under local anaesthetic and prescribing drugs. An FHP is qualified and insured to do all the essential maintenance including nail cutting, hard skin removal (callus), corns and verrucae, including for people with Diabetes.

Helping individuals improve their mobility or maintaining their comfort is a practical and important part of the FHP’s roll.

Outside of work I am motivated and revived by my family, my passion for baking & the enjoyment I find in photography.

I am looking forward to meeting you all at Stubbington Natural Health Clinic and am excited to become part of the team.
